FIRAS
In 2010 Fireseal were accepted by FIRAS as certified installers of passive fire protection. FIRAS is operated by the internationally renowned Warrington Fire and are a UKAS accredited third party certification scheme designed for the certification of competent installers involved in the fire protection industry. The scheme assesses the technical capability of the installer and contracts personnel on an ongoing basis for compliance with the scheme and the relevant specifications.
The FIRAS certification has four main components:
- Assessment of the contractor to ensure that he employs trained operators/supervisors certified
- Assessment of competency of workforce.
- Regular/random inspections: Under the FIRAS scheme, installer’s contracts are inspected on an ongoing and unannounced basis and companies are subject to an annual office audit.
- Certificate of conformity: On completion, the FIRAS certificated contractor produces a certificate of conformity, which states that appropriate products/systems have been installed correctly. Certificates are kept by the building owner and by FIRAS for traceability
